Acts 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by Him does this man stand here before you whole.

 

Without a doubt, the most common and often-used Name/Title for Jesus is JESUS CHRIST. We find Him identified by this Name 189 times throughout the Word of God. Jesus Christ is both His Name and His Title; Jesus being His Name and Christ being His Title. Christ is not Jesus’ last Name. It is His Title. He is Jesus, The Christ.

 

The Angel Gabriel told Mary what His Name was to be. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His Name Jesus. (Luke 1:31) The Name Jesus is the Greek translation of the Hebrew Name Yeshua, which translates as “God is Salvation.” The Name Jesus signifies both the Person that Jesus was and the Mission that He came to earth to fulfill; that being going to the Cross of Calvary to bring Salvation to whosoever would choose to believe.

 

The Title, Christ, comes from the Greek word, Christos. Its definition is the Chosen, Anointed Son of God. Christos in Hebrew is Messiah which also means Anointed One. Jesus Christ is God’s Chosen One Whom He Anointed and sent to earth to do the greatest Work of anyone at any time.

 

Jesus Christ was the fulfillment of many Prophecies of Old as He came to rescue sinners from eternal damnation. The Apostle Paul understood that His meeting with Jesus Christ on the Road to Damascus was orchestrated by God and would totally change his life forever. On that day, the old man (Saul) died and the new man (Paul) rose from the grave and lived out the rest of his life totally surrendered to the Lord Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.

 

If you are saved and born again, you too have such a testimony. At some point in time, you met Jesus Christ face to face and were totally changed. On that fateful day (just like Saul) God picked you up, turned you around, and placed your feet on the solid Rock of the Lord Jesus Christ, never to be the same! You were Saved, Redeemed, and born again!

 

Jesus is the Chosen, Anointed Son of God. He is the Messiah and He accomplished all that He was sent to do. His Name/Title is JESUS CHRIST: Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by Him does this man stand here before you whole. (Acts 4:10)
