Jesus Is The Light

John 1:5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

Throughout the Word of God, we read of Good and evil. Everything on this earth is either Good or evil because everything has its origin in either one or the other. Prior to the fall of man, there was nothing evil on earth. Everything was Good. There was nothing poisonous or harmful to Adam and Eve. Everything on earth today that is poisonous or harmful to human beings is part of the result of sin.

Think about this for a moment. There was no poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, thorns on plants, stickers, thistles, mosquitos, poisonous spiders, fire ants, bed bugs, roaches, venomous snakes, mean dogs, or hateful, aggressive animals that ate each other. There was no pain, sickness, or disease of any kind because the human body was created by God to live forever in perfect health. Nor was there any hate, anger, strife, sorrow, shame, contention, jealousy, worry, stress, bitterness, or death. They wanted for nothing because everything they needed was at their fingertips.

All living things existed in total harmony on earth because God is Good and created everything to be Good and at Peace. God communed with them every day and their lives were absolutely perfect. God has always demanded obedience so He gave them one rule to obey; one single rule. We all know what happened. Satan lied to Eve and convinced her that the Words God spoke to them were not true and she broke God’s one rule. Then Adam did the same and when they fell into sin, the whole world changed. Sin contaminated everything. Evil had infiltrated the Goodness of God.

God uses symbolism in His Word to teach us what He wants us to know. One of His favorite forms of symbolism is Light and darkness. In this case, all that is Good and of God is represented as Light and that which is of the enemy is symbolized as darkness. This is easy to understand as it appears as black and white.

On the first day, God created light. In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light” and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night, So the evening and the morning were the first day. (Genesis 1:1-5)

On the first day, God divided light from darkness and He used this as symbolism from then until now. Sin is in this world. Actually, the world is nothing but sin; darkness. Jesus went to the Cross of Calvary to pay the price God required for all sin in this world. He was the Blood Sacrifice required by God for sin; your sin, my sin; all sin.

Jesus is the Light, sent by God, to overtake ALL darkness in our lives. Jesus said, I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. (John 8:12) No one has to live in darkness. This is one of the greatest Promises of God! Anyone who follows Jesus shall not walk in darkness. Instead, they will have Light! Light ALWAYS overtakes darkness. The light of a single match will light up a whole room! Let the Light of the Lord Jesus Christ shine in your life. It WILL overtake the darkness. Hallelujah!

The Light of the Lord Jesus Christ will…...….turn the tide……….in this world.

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!         Doreen
