Jesus Our Redeemer

Titus 2:14 Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself for us, that He might Redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

Yesterday, we looked at some Passages of Scripture in the Old Testament that were Prophecies of Jesus being the coming REDEEMER. As also stated yesterday, Jesus is the Word of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:14) In addition, we must keep in mind that all Scripture is given by Inspiration of God. (2 Timothy 3:16)

Therefore, every word found in the Holy Bible is God speaking to us and when we read about the Names, Titles, and Attributes of the Godhead (God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit) they are actually speaking of themselves. The Bible is actually the Words of the Triune Godhead spoken about themselves.

With that said, when the Word of God says And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:14) In actuality what we are reading is Jesus Himself saying, I am the Word of God and I became flesh and dwelt among you.

The Apostle Paul wrote fourteen Books of the New Testament. Paul had such a dramatic Salvation experience on the Road to Damascus, he viewed Jesus as REDEEMER because He Redeemed him from all his sins and totally transformed his life. The following are some of Paul’s writings declaring Jesus as REDEEMER. As you read these, remember, that every Word is inspired by God and is actually Jesus speaking through the mouth of Paul.

Galatians 3:13 Christ has Redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us.

Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, to Redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

Titus 2:11-14 For the Grace of God that brings Salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, Righteously, and Godly in the present age, looking for the Blessed Hope and Glorious Appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself for us, that He might Redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

This Passage in Paul’s letter to Titus says it all! If we consider that God inspired these Words (2 Timothy 3:16) which is actually Jesus, Himself, (John 1:14) we could take the liberty and write them as Jesus in the first person; as if Jesus was writing them about Himself.

Allow me the liberty to do this with the above three Passages of Scripture. I believe this will bring greater understanding about Jesus being our REDEEMER.

Galatians 3:13 as written: Christ has Redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us.

Written in the first person of Jesus, this Passage would read I, Jesus Christ have Redeemed you from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for you.

Galatians 4:4-5 as written: But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, to Redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

Written in the first person of Jesus, this Passage would read But when the fullness of time had come, God, My Father, sent forth Me, His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, to Redeem those who were under the Law, that you might receive the adoption as sons.

Titus 2:11-14 as written: For the Grace of God that brings Salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, Righteously, and Godly in the present age, looking for the Blessed Hope and Glorious Appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself for us, that He might Redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

Written in the first person of Jesus, this Passage would read I am the Grace of God and I have brought Salvation to all men, teaching you that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, you should live soberly, Righteously, and Godly in the present age, looking for Me your Blessed Hope and My Glorious Appearing for I am your great God and Savior. I gave Myself for you, so I can Redeem you from every lawless deed and purify for Myself My own special people, zealous for good works.

The sole Purpose for Jesus coming to earth as a man was to go to the Cross of Calvary as REDEEMER of mankind. Yes, Jesus performed an untold number of Miracles, Signs, and Wonders during His Ministry but these things were done to prove that He was indeed the Son of God; the Messiah Who would willingly go to the Cross of Calvary to be our REDEEMER. Salvation and Redemption through faith in His Finished Work on the Cross is available to every single human being on earth.

This Title, REDEEMER, describes the Father’s Purpose in sending His Only Begotten Son to live on earth. He came to be the REDEEMER of mankind! That includes you! All you have to do is believe and make Him the Lord of your life.

Faith in Jesus as REDEEMER will…...….turn the tide……..in this world.

I pray you now have a better understanding of Jesus our REDEEMER.        Doreen
