Jew Nor Greek

Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be damned.

As we have been discussing for the past several days, the 10th Chapter of the Book of Acts relates a turning point in human history. It’s amazing how God orchestrated this whole thing and chose to use a soldier and his family to do so.

Most theologians believe that this took place in the year 71 A.D. which was 8 years after the Crucifixion of Christ. The Church had grown greatly in number during that eight-year period, but all those who were Saved and born again were Jewish. They were still operating under the Law although Jesus had fulfilled it by the shedding of His Perfect Blood on the Cross of Calvary.

The moment He uttered the Words, It is finished, (John 19:30) and gave up His Spirit, the door was opened for all people to come into the Presence of God. Whosoever believes in Him (Jesus) shall be Saved. Jesus told them this but they just couldn’t believe that a heathen Gentile could have anything of God! He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be damned. (Mark 16:16)

The Law was all they knew. It had dictated their way of life for centuries. Although they believed the Words of the Prophets and that Jesus was the Messiah, they still couldn’t set aside some aspects of the Law, and accepting Gentiles into the Family of God was one.

We call this racism and whether we like to admit it or not, it is still very much alive and well in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ today. This is a sad commentary, but true nonetheless. Very rarely will you find a fellowship of believers with members of different races worshiping together and just perhaps, this is why we rarely (if ever) hear the 10th Chapter of Acts preached from the pulpit.

The Apostle Paul said There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28)

The Word of God will……..….turn the tide

I love you all,         Doreen
