Keep The Word Of God

Luke 11:28 Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and keep it!

When Peter and the six brethren who accompanied him to the house of Cornelius in Caesarea returned to Jerusalem, they were met with great contention. The other Apostles and followers of Christ were very upset that Peter had shared the Gospel with Gentiles! How could he do such a thing? In short, they were mad! And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they who were of the circumcision contended with him saying, “You went into men uncircumcised, and did eat with them.” (Acts 11:2-3)

At that point, Peter explained the whole story. He told them about the Vision he had while praying on the roof and the Message the Lord spoke to him three times. He also told them about the Angel visiting Cornelius and how Cornelius obeyed what the Angel told him to do.

He went on to explain that when he went down from the roof, the men from Cornelius’ house were there waiting for him just as the Lord had told him. So, he took six believers and went with them to Caesarea just as the Lord had instructed him to do.

He continued by telling them that when they arrived at Cornelius’ house, he and a lot of his friends and family were there waiting for them. At that point, he shared the Gospel with them in accordance with the Vision and the Message he had been given and the Word of the Angel to Cornelius who had told him that Peter would tell them what they needed to hear to be saved. (Acts 11:5-14)

Then Peter said, And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, as on us at the beginning. (Acts 1:15) Peter then related how he remembered the Words of Jesus John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 11:16 and Acts 1:5)

At that point in time, Peter knew that what was happening was in accordance with the Word of the Lord and so, while he related the story, he said For as much then as God gave them the like Gift as He did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, what was I, that I could withstand God? (Acts 11:17)

When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.” (Acts 11:19) They couldn’t argue with the Word of God. Perhaps they too remembered the Words of Jesus when He said, Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and keep it!

Keeping the Word of God will……..….turn the tide……….in your life!

I love the Word of God!         Doreen
