Knowledge Is Not Faith

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Faith. What is faith? Hebrews 11:1 says Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is ABSOLUTELY BELIEVING in something to the point of trusting it completely with everything you have and everything you are.

Knowledge is not faith. While knowledge is needed to have faith, knowledge and faith are two entirely different things. We may know something and believe it to be true but until we believe it enough to entrust our life to it, it’s just knowledge.

Every person on earth is created by God. He is the Creator. In the heart of every human being is the knowledge that He is real. Everyone (no matter what they may say) knows that God exists. Solomon wrote, Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the Work that God does from beginning to end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

The Apostle Paul wrote, For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His Eternal Power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse. (Romans 1:20) When we examine the beauty of Creation, there is no way that we cannot believe God exists. Look closely at the petals of a single flower or the intricate feather pattern of a bird. No person could manufacture such beauty and it is not feasible that these things evolved over time. It just doesn’t make sense! The only thing that does make sense is that there is a Creator (God) Who is the Maker of the entire universe and everything in it. Anyone who tries to prove anything else will always come to this conclusion because there is no other reasonable conclusion to come to.

This conclusion is based on knowledge that has been proven over time and because of this, we believe this knowledge to be true. However, just because we have this knowledge does not mean we have faith, and faith is required to please God. We are all born with the knowledge of God but we are not born with faith IN God.

Our goal in life is to please God, our Creator. The ONLY way to do this is to have faith in Him. Read Hebrews 11:6 one more time. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. To know about God is good. Knowledge is a very good thing to have but it is not faith. Faith comes to those who diligently seek God with all their heart. Jesus told us the way to have faith. And you shall love the Lord your God with all our heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the First Commandment. (Mark 12:30) Then He said, If you love Me, keep My Commandments. (John 14:15)

The Holy Spirit always takes me back to the Words of Jesus in His Sermon on the Mount. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33) When we put God first above all else in our lives, we will develop faith and with faith, we can live our lives pleasing to Him.

Faith in Christ will……….turn the tide……….in your life!

Thank you Lord for faith,         Doreen
