Hebrews 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.

As we continue with our study of the many Names/Titles of Jesus we come to a Title that is a description of the Father’s Purpose for Jesus coming to earth as a man. This Title is LAMB OF GOD.

We first find this in the Gospel of John as he relates the words of John the Baptist. The next day John (John the Baptist) saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The LAMB OF GOD who takes away the sin of the world. (John 1:29) Shortly thereafter we read And looking at Jesus as He walked, he (John the Baptist) said, “Behold the Lamb of God!” (John 1:36)

Prior to the Crucifixion of Christ, the Sacrificial System of the Old Covenant was the only way for Jews to be forgiven of their sins. Twice a day they had to bring lambs (or other animals) to the Altar as a sacrifice for their sins. Millions of little lambs were sacrificed during this time. However, all the blood that was shed on the Altar only COVERED their sins. Although the animals Sacrificed were the best the people had none of them could TAKE AWAY sin. It only COVERED their sin. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. (Hebrews 10:4)

All of this would change under the New Covenant. God’s New Covenant with humanity is not limited to the Jewish people. It is for all people, everywhere. Jesus came to earth to be God’s Sacrifice for the sin of the world; all of it! God sent His Son to be the final Sacrifice for every person on earth from that time forward. No one would ever again have to bring a sacrificial animal to the Altar. Jesus was the Perfect Sacrifice that God required for all sin and His shed Blood would not just COVER sins, it would TAKE AWAY SINS! All anyone has to do is believe it!

Faith in the shed Blood of Jesus is the Power of God to save us from the PENALTY of our sins, which is death. The wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23) Faith in Jesus as the LAMB OF GOD immediately brings Salvation which ultimately brings Eternal Life in Heaven. For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have Everlasting Life. (John 3:16)

Faith in Christ Crucified is also the Power of God to free us from the POWER of sin in our lives now. Jesus shed His Perfect Blood on the Cross of Calvary to defeat the power of Satan in our lives. Faith in Christ gives us authority over the Devil who is our enemy. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)

Jesus defeated the power of Satan on the Cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. (Colossians 2:15) This means that the LAMB OF GOD (Jesus Christ Crucified) is the POWER of God for Victory over sin! Jesus won that Victory for us on the Cross of Calvary.

Jesus was Perfect in every way. He never sinned one time. He never had an evil thought. He was the Perfect Word of God manifested in the flesh. (John 1:14) He didn’t have to go to the Cross for His own sins because He didn’t have any. He went to the Cross for your sins and my sins. He loves us so much, that He willingly Sacrificed His Own Life so we can be set free from BOTH the penalty and power of sin in our lives.

If you believe this, you are Saved and Redeemed by the shed Blood of the LAMB OF GOD; Jesus Christ. In Him we live and move and have our being. (Acts 17:21) Hallelujah!

Faith in the LAMB OF GOD will……...….turn the tide……..in this world.

Thank you Jesus!         Doreen
