1 Corinthians 15:45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The Last Adam became a life-giving Spirit.
To study the many Names and Titles given to Jesus in the Word of God is profitable for knowledge, understanding, wisdom, and edification. We can never exhaust our understanding of Jesus. He is our everything; our all in all.
In his letter to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul refers to Jesus as the Last Adam. 45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The Last Adam became a life-giving Spirit. (1 Corinthians 15:45) Paul used the term LAST ADAM to compare Jesus with the first man, Adam who was created by God in His Image and perfect. God gave the first Adam dominion over the earth and intended for him to live forever. However, the first Adam sinned against God which led to the fall of humanity and introduced sin and death into the entire world.
Paul gave Jesus the Name/Title the LAST ADAM because he saw Him as the One Who came to Redeem all of humanity from the effects of the first Adam; sin and death. Jesus came to earth to become the final Blood Sacrifice for the sins of the world. He came to restore the relationship between God and humanity that was broken by the fall of the first Adam.
The first Adam brought sin and death into the world and we all suffer from his choices. However, our Heavenly Father loves us so much that He sent Jesus, the Last Adam, to Redeem us from sin and death. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. (1 Corinthians 15:21-22)
Paul uses the term LAST ADAM because there will never be a need for another. The Finished Work of Jesus on the Cross was the Last Sacrifice. His Work was complete. Nothing more is, or ever shall be needed. We do not need to do anything more to be Redeemed by God. Jesus’ Work was complete and final. For such a High Priest was fitting for us, Who is Holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the Heavens; Who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. (Hebrews 7:26-27)
In summary, the first Adam brought sin and death to all mankind. The LAST ADAM brought Redemption and Life to all who choose to believe in Him and obey His Commandments.
Faith in the LAST ADAM will…...….turn the tide……..in this world.
Thank God for the LAST ADAM! Doreen
