Lay Yourself Down

Galatians 5:16-18 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

It is God’s Will that every born-again believer in Christ continually walks in the Spirit. This is a lifestyle and it is available to all believers but we must choose to walk in the Spirit and not the flesh. Believers in Christ are the Church. We are the Body of Christ. It is our job to take the Light into this dark and evil world. We do this by walking in the Spirit; living a Spirit-filled lifestyle.

Living a Spirit-filled lifestyle is to allow the Holy Spirit of God to have control of your life. To do this, we must relinquish ourselves to Him. It is to totally surrender yourself to the Lord and allow Him to speak through you and minister to others through you.

When we do this, the Fruit of the Spirit will be evident in our lives and the fruit of the flesh will no longer be what we produce. The Holy Spirit inspired the Apostle Paul to write this to the Galatians. I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. (Galatians 5:16-26)

Jesus suffered and died on the Cross so we don’t have to live in the flesh (sin). When we come to a complete understanding of all that He accomplished at Calvary that day, we can then make the choice to walk in the Spirit and not the flesh.

On the Cross, Jesus defeated all power of the enemy. He disarmed him and declared him powerless in the lives of all believers. And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the Cross having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. (Colossians 2:13-15)

Jesus did all this for us; you and me. We don’t deserve it but He did it because He loves us so much. He loved us before we were born. You don’t have to be miserable. Sin does not have to have dominion over you. You can walk in the Spirit of God and produce the Fruit of the Spirit.

Lay yourself down and let God…..…….turn the tide……….in your life.

Thank you Jesus!         Doreen
