Psalms 46:10 Be still and know that I am God.

Prayer is a conversation with God. Conversation is two-way communication between parties. Have you ever had a conversation with someone but you never had the chance to say anything? They talk constantly and then when they are finished telling you everything, they end the conversation by either disconnecting the phone or leaving. This is not a conversation because both parties have not had their say.

Unfortunately, most people pray like this. They do all the talking and have no idea what God has to say back to them because they never give Him a chance to respond or speak His Mind. Prayer is both a privilege and an opportunity to communicate with the Creator of the universe. I believe He has a lot more to say than we do and what He has to say is far more important.

It has been said that God created us with two ears and one mouth because He wants us to listen twice as much as we talk. While that is probably not true, it’s a good concept. When you pray, how much do you talk and how much do you listen? If you have been doing all the talking perhaps it’s time to heed the Word of God and Be still and know that I am God. (Psalms 46:10)

For those of us who talk all the time, consider the fact that God speaks to you in many ways including through your dreams. Perhaps this is the only time He can speak because this is the only time you are quiet. When Jesus walked the earth people followed Him and they listened to every Word He spoke. They wanted to hear what He had to say. He was their Teacher. They called Him Rabbi which means Teacher.

While we do not have Jesus here with us in person, we do have the Holy Spirit of God dwelling inside us. He is our Teacher, Counselor, and Guide through life. Jesus gave His Life on the Cross of Calvary so we can have the Holy Spirit with us at all times! Jesus said, But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. (John 14:26)

The Holy Spirit is a gentleman. He will not interrupt you and He will not force you to do anything. He has a lot to say to you. He knows what you need to hear. Do you want to hear what God has to say to you? If so, then you must be quiet and listen. Enter into the Throne Room of God with praise and thanksgiving and then simply listen to what the Holy Spirit of God has to say. Be still and know that I am God.

The Voice of God will……….turn the tide……….in your life.
