Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect Will of God.
I can just imagine how it was the day God banished Lucifer from Heaven. God had created him with incredible beauty and talent but Lucifer made the decision to misuse what God had blessed him with and pride resulted in banishment for him.
We only have to turn on the computer, television, or radio to see the exact same thing happening in the lives of millions of people. Perhaps we can see the same when we look in the mirror. God creates a person with certain gifts, all of which are to bring glory to the Father. Unfortunately, like Lucifer, the majority of people choose to reject God and glorify the world (who is Satan) with their gifts and talents.
The day Lucifer left Heaven, one-third of the angels went with him. These are the “fallen angels” we read about in God’s Word. We don’t know why they chose to leave God and go with Lucifer, but in all his wisdom and beauty, I’m sure he convinced them they would be much better off with him than with God.
This is EXACTLY how he has always worked in the lives of people, and he still does today. He speaks lies into our minds in an attempt to draw us away from God and into his evil world. He is extremely convincing. He is not known as the “father of lies” for nothing!
Many Christians believe that because they are saved, Satan has no power over them. This is a false teaching that can be deadly and is not at all in line with the Word of God. In fact, it is from the enemy! Read the 6th Chapter of Ephesians.
Due to the fall of Adam and Eve, we are all born with a sin nature. This is a weakness within every person and Satan attacks us where we are weak. Any area where we have the slightest doubt or fear is where Satan will worm his way into our minds and set up housekeeping. Once inside, he begins his evil work to kill, steal, and destroy our faith in God.
The Apostle Paul taught on the subject of Spiritual Warfare and in Romans 12:1, He gives us insight as to how we can be victorious over the enemy. It begins with presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to God. He goes on to say, this is our reasonable service.
This single sentence describes total surrender to Christ and the Will of God. To understand this one sentence is a huge step toward living for God. God created every part of us for the sole purpose of worshiping Him and bringing glory to Him. From the top of our heads to the soles of our feet, our body is the Temple of God created to honor God and glorify Him.
Any action on our part that deviates from this is an area of our life that God wants to cleanse and bring in line with His Word. Because we want to be in the Will of the Father, we pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal to us the areas of our lives that need cleaning up. There are many, but with God, all things are possible!
God is able! He will……..turn the tide
Surrendering more and more every day, Doreen
