Love Jesus

John 14:15 If you love Me, keep My Commandments.

When Jesus walked this Earth as a man, He drew people to Himself. They came in droves from miles away to see Him. It was the Presence of the Holy Spirit that actually drew people to Him. Every Miracle, Sign, and Wonder that Jesus performed was done by the Holy Spirit through the man, Christ Jesus.

Likewise, those who hated Jesus did not hate Him as a man they hated the Spirit of God in Him because they wanted the power, prestige, and position among the people. Jesus never sought any of that. He sought the lost souls of them all. Jesus wanted to see every person come to faith in Who He was; the Son of God.

Jesus’ Disciples believed He was the Messiah and they laid down their lives to follow Him. Hundreds of other people followed Him as well and clamored to hear Him Teach and see what He would do.

In the 14th Chapter of John, we read that Jesus told them that He would soon be leaving them. They did not understand this but they listened. They had sat under His Teaching for three years but they needed so much more. Jesus told them that their higher learning would not come from Him but from the Holy Spirit of God whom the Father would send to them in His place.

If you love Me, keep My Commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. (John 14:15-18)

Please note that the first thing Jesus told them was to keep His Commandments. If you love Me, keep My Commandments. (John 14:15) Obedience is the product of faith. If you love someone in authority, you believe in them and you will obey them. For Jesus to move on and send the Holy Spirit, it was imperative that they loved Him and obeyed His Commandments.

God has a Divine Order for everything in this world. First, above all else, as New Testament believers, we must love Jesus. If we don’t love Jesus with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, we can’t go any further in our faith walk.

The Apostle John said We love Him because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19) In 1855 Frederick Whitfield wrote a beautiful song all about Jesus. There is a Name I love to hear, I love to sing its worth; It sounds like music in my ear, the sweetest Name on earth. Oh, how I love Jesus. Oh, how I love Jesus. Oh, how I love Jesus, because He first loved me. It tells me of a Savior’s love, who died to set me free; It tells me of His precious Blood, the sinner’s perfect plea. Oh, how I love Jesus. Oh, how I love Jesus. Oh, how I love Jesus, because He first loved me.

Love Him with all your heart. He will……….turn the tide……….in your life.

Oh, how I love Jesus,         Doreen
