Mediator

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and there is one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.

As we continue our study of the many Names/Titles for Jesus we come to a Title that, when understood properly, will absolutely bring revelation! This Title is MEDIATOR. We must begin by defining the word. The Dictionary defines a mediator as a person who intercedes between two parties in order to reconcile them. This is exactly what Jesus did when He went to the Cross of Calvary!

All human beings long in the heart to be close to God. Everyone is created with the knowledge that God is real. Also He has put eternity in their hearts. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) Because of this, all people long to be close to God and spend eternity with Him.

The problem is sin. Every person is a sinner. All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. (Romans 3:23) There is no one Righteous, not even one. (Romans 3:10) God does not, cannot, and will not tolerate sin. However, it is God’s Will that every human being on earth be Redeemed from their sin. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, Who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the Truth. (1 Timothy 2:3-4)

So, here we are. Longing to be with God but bound by sin which keeps us away from Him. God loves us all so much, that He sent our Remedy in the Person of Jesus Christ. He made a new Way for people to be Redeemed and that Way is Jesus. He calls this New Way the New Covenant. It is a New Contract (if you will) between us and God. Jesus is the New Covenant. His Finished Work on the Cross of Calvary put an end to all the Sacrificial Laws of the Old Covenant. He was the FINAL SACRIFICE ever required by God the Father for the sins of mankind.

Perfect in every way, Jesus was sent by God the Father to be our MEDIATOR. Let’s look again at the definition of this word. The Dictionary defines a mediator as a person who intercedes between two parties in order to reconcile them.

The parties involved are us and God. We each stand guilty and separated from God because of sin. Jesus is our personal bridge to God. He paid the price when He willingly went to the Cross of Calvary and shed His Perfect Blood as the final Sacrifice so all mankind could be Saved. He, and He alone, did this for us! And for this reason He is the Mediator of the New Covenant, by means of death, for the Redemption of the transgressions under the First Covenant, that those who are called may receive the Promise of the Eternal Inheritance. (Hebrews 9:15)

When Jesus died on the Cross the Old Covenant was complete and the New Covenant between man and God was set in place. It is a Contract between each of us personally and God the Father. Jesus was sent by God to be the Mediator of the New Covenant. He died for you and He died for me…….personally. He knows each one of us individually and He is our MEDIATOR!

Place your full faith and trust in the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross because it was there that He paid the price for your sin; both the penalty of your sin and the power of sin in your life now. Jesus paid it all so sin shall not have dominion over you. (Romans 6:14) Hallelujah!

The Mediator came to……….turn the tide……...in this world.

Thank you Jesus for being my Mediator!         Doreen
