Galatians 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
In the 18th Chapter of the Book of Acts, we are introduced to a man named Apollos. This man was born and educated in Alexandria, Egypt. The Bible tells us that he was eloquent and well-versed in the Scriptures. And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. (Acts 18:24)
We are not told why he traveled from Alexandria to Ephesus, but we do know that God had a plan for him to meet Paul. It was a Holy Spirit Divine Appointment to be certain. It’s amazing how God moves us from place to place and causes us to meet certain people all for the betterment of His Kingdom. If we were to look back over our lives and consider this, we would find many Divine Appointments that dramatically affected us and others. However, God’s reason for these meetings is always to benefit His Kingdom.
When Paul met Jesus on the Road to Damascus, he was led by the Spirit to a certain house on Straight Street owned by a man named Judas. At the same time, the Spirit of God led a man named Ananias to the same house. This was a Divine Appointment instituted by God for Paul (then Saul) and Ananias. Both men would be forever changed because of this Divine Appointment. So the Lord said to him, “Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying. And in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he might receive his sight.” (Acts 9:10-11)
Divine Appointments are God’s way of causing us to meet certain people who will greatly impact our lives and the Kingdom of God. When we come to recognize this, we will also come to expect more Divine Appointments. The Spirit of God is constantly at work in our lives guiding and directing us. When we learn to hear His Voice and follow His Guidance, we will then see the Hand of God truly at work.
Divine Appointments are Miraculous meetings caused and directed by God Himself. He has a plan for you and those He wants you to meet. Divine Appointments are always between two people. The Lord has something for both people involved. When we are involved in a Divine Appointment, it may be for our benefit or it may be for the other person’s benefit, but it will always be for the benefit of the Kingdom of God. Everything God does will in some way benefit His Kingdom.
When we allow ourselves to be led by the Spirit we will never be disappointed. God has many more Divine Appointments scheduled for us. Listen and hear the Voice of the Lord. Then, go where He sends you. A Divine Appointment may be in His Plan for you today!
Only God can………..turn the tide……..in this world.
Thank God for Divine Appointments, Doreen
