Acts 12:24 But the Word of God grew and multiplied.

 

God sent an Angel to strike Herod because of the pride in his life. This happened as he stood, dressed in his royal raiment, before a huge crowd of his people, and spoke highly of himself. This was a huge mistake that cost Herod his life. The Scripture tells us that, because of his pride, God sent an Angel and smote him. So on a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his throne and gave an oration to them. And the people kept shouting, “The voice of a god and not of a man!” Then immediately an Angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God: And he was eaten by worms and died. (Acts 12:21-23)

 

The very next Verse says, But the Word of God grew and multiplied. (Acts 12:24) It is interesting to note that Luke did not write that the Church grew in number, But the Word of God grew and multiplied.

 

The Word of God is Truth and must be the source of everything regarding the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Remember, Jesus Christ IS the Word of God. They are one and the same. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:14) If the Word of God does not grow in the hearts and lives of believers, God will not bless that fellowship. As the Truth of the Word is studied and believed, the Blessings of God will flow unlike anyone can imagine.

 

In the 17th Chapter of John, we read some of the prayers of Jesus. As He was praying for His followers, He said, Sanctify them through Your Truth: Your Word is Truth. (John 17:17) Many things in this world are true, but the Word of God is the only Truth on the face of the earth, and it has the Power of God to Sanctify people.

 

Sanctification is the Work of the Holy Spirit and He will only work in conjunction with the Truth, which is the Word of God. Therefore, study the Word of God and seek its Truth. Let the Word grow and multiply in your heart and mind. It is Jesus Christ manifested into a tangible object that you can hold in your hands, keep in your mind, and cherish with all your heart. There is nothing on earth more important than the Word of God.

 

The Word of God is the Power to……….turn the tide……….in this lost and dying world.
