My Refuge And Strength

Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

God is more than capable of protecting us in any situation. No matter the danger, He is able. Divine Protection is a Benefit that is in constant operation in our lives. Sometimes we recognize it and sometimes we don’t. Regardless, the fact is, God is there. He cares. He loves us and He wants to protect us.

For the past three days we have been discussing the Benefit of Divine Protection. This question has been brought to my attention: “Why does God not always protect us?” This is a very good question and the honest answer is, I don’t know. However, we do know what the Word of God says on this subject.

Solomon was the wisest man to ever live. He wrote: The Name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. (Proverbs 18:10) This Proverb would indicate that the one who runs to God in their time of trouble and calls upon His Name, will find safety.

This brings us back to the fact that the Promises of God come with conditions, His Benefits have provisions and the Authority He gives us is accompanied with responsibility. We do have a part to play in our life as a born again believing child of God.

At times God does protect us and we don’t even realize it but when we know we are in trouble, He wants us to run to Him. It’s all about our faith. In whom do we trust? Where do we run when the storms of life come? Do we respond in fear or faith?

Every time God protects us and delivers us from a dreadful situation our faith should be increased. From one situation to the next we should grow in faith in Him. In actuality, He protects us and delivers us from destruction every day.

God wants us to trust Him. He wants us to run to Him in faith. He has proven Himself able and more than capable. So, instead of asking, “Why does God not always protect us?” I ask you, “Why don’t we run to Him for help and safety FIRST? Why is He our last resort in times of trouble?” God is worthy of being FIRST in our lives. Seek ye FIRST the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33) He stands ready to take our call and respond. He knows what’s best. Run to Him in faith.

When you do, He will……….turn the tide……….in your life.

He is my place of refuge and strength, Doreen
