Name With A Promise

John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, before Abraham was, I AM.

Throughout the Old Testament, we find the Prophets speaking of Jesus by many different Names and Titles. Isaiah spoke of Him as the Holy One of Israel twenty-one times. For the past several days we have been studying all these many Names and Titles given to Jesus in the Word of God.

However, when Jesus referred to Himself as the I AM, this was the revelation that moved all who were present and continues to move us today. The Name of Jesus for today's Morning Message is I AM.

I AM: Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, before Abraham was, I AM. (John 8:58)

Jesus has always been. He is God. He is the I AM because He has always been God. 1500 years prior to the Birth of Jesus, Moses had a conversation with God. And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the Children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers has sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is His Name? What shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and He said, Thus shall you say unto the Children Israel, I AM has sent me unto you. (Exodus 3:13-14)

To the Israelites, God was given several Names and Titles. Each of these was a Title and a description of the Character of God. A few examples would be El or Elohim which means “The Lofty One.” Jahveh or Jehovah which means The Existent One. Shaddai which means The Powerful One. The people called God by these descriptive Titles.

However, in Exodus 3:14 God gave Himself a Name. He declared Himself to be I AM THAT I AM. The Hebrew word carries with it past, present, and future tenses. The Name means that God has always been, is now, and will always be. He has no beginning and no end. He is the same God yesterday, today, and forever. The Name declares that God has always existed, exists now, and will exist for all of eternity.

The Name I AM is the Promise of God to always be Who He is: Eternal. He is always present and unchangeable. He is always there for His children in times of need or trouble. He stands ready to help at any time.

The Word of God contains many Promises and every one of them is for us. “Every Promise in the Book is mine.” The Name I AM encompasses every Promise in the Word of God. It declares God to be absolutely everything to all people!

With that knowledge about the Name I AM, allow me to remind you that Jesus also announced Himself as I AM! Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, before Abraham was, I AM. (John 8:58)

Jesus and God the Father are both I AM. They are One and they both have this Name. This Name carries with it the greatest Promise of God. He was, He is, and He shall ever be everything we could ever need. The greatest Promise of God is found in His Name: I AM.

I AM is about to………..turn the tide……….in this world!

I claim this Promise!         Doreen
