Newness Of Life

Romans 6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the Glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

The First Century Church, which we find in the Book of Acts, was a continuation of the Ministry of Christ. This is what God intended the Church to be. In fact, this is what He still intends for His Church. Unfortunately, the modern Church of today has drifted so far off track, there is little to no resemblance to the Ministry of Christ any longer.

People come to Church for help. Their problem is sin and they believe the Church can and should help them. They are right but very few ever receive any real help because the Church is no longer ministering to people as Jesus did.

Few modern-day Preachers actually Preach the Gospel of Christ which is where the people will find Salvation, Healing, and Deliverance; Justification and Sanctification. As we stated yesterday, the Gospel of Christ is clearly put forth by Paul in the 6th Chapter of Romans. In a nutshell, the fact is, we are all sinners and in desperate need of a Savior. The wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23) If we don’t have Jesus as our Savior, we will die and go to Hell.

Jesus Christ is our only Hope for a Savior because only He went to the Cross of Calvary and gave His Life for our sins. Also, He was buried and He rose again in newness of life, thus defeating both the penalty (Justification) and power of sin (Sanctification) in the lives of those who believe.

Paul explains that our belief and faith in what Jesus did on the Cross allows us to spiritually be buried with Him. If we believe He died on the Cross for us personally, we know that we too have died to sin, been buried and raised to newness of life. We don’t have to physically do this because Jesus did it for us! He paid the price for our sin. We all deserve the death penalty but Jesus volunteered to die in our place!

He was then buried in our place too! And, on the Third Day, He was raised from the dead in newness of life and is still alive today sitting at the Right Hand of the Father in Heaven. When we accept ALL that Jesus did for us, we can lay aside our past (be buried) and live our lives as a totally new person (raised to newness of life). Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the Glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:4)

At that point, the penalty and power of sin in our life is totally defeated. That is the Victory only believers have over the penalty for sin and the power of the sin nature in their life. That is what should be the basis for all Ministry of the Church of Jesus Christ.

The Blood of Jesus Christ is what will……….turn the tide……….in your life.
