Romans 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
This short Scripture is worthy of discussion because some people do not think God sees them the same way He sees great men of God, like Billy Graham, for example. They are incorrect.
To properly understand the true meaning of this verse we must go back to the Greek for the words respect of persons. The Greek word is “prosopolemptes.” The literal translation for this word is “an accepter of a face.” This is to recognize someone by their face; how they look. Given that translation this Scripture should read, “For there is no acceptance of face in the Presence of God.”
In Biblical times, the decision of a judge would often be swayed by who the person was rather than the facts of the case. Unfortunately this is still true today and judges do look at many things besides just the facts of the case in making their determination. Also, we know judges can be bribed into making a decision. In the world, who you are, who you know and how much money you have plays a HUGE part in how you are treated in a court of law.
However, this is not true with God. We find this again in Acts 10:34 where Peter said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons. God does not “see the face” of any person. God sees only the heart of all people.
In Biblical times, they were referring to God recognizing only Jews and not Gentiles. In fact, many believed that just because they were born a Jew they were automatically saved. This is still true today among the Jewish community.
Unfortunately, this is not limited to Jews. Many people believe because they are born into a Christian family, they are born a Christian. This is a falsehood. Jesus said, Marvel not that I said unto you, you must be born again.
The Saving Grace of God is available to every person, but it is their individual decision. We cannot pray a person into Heaven or believe enough for others. When it comes right down to it, we are each responsible for our own Salvation and eternal destiny. No one can do it for you. It doesn’t matter who your father was or how good a Christian your grandma was. It’s about you, and you alone.
God knows the heart of every person. He does not take into consideration how you look, who your parents or grandparents were, where you live, how much money you have in the bank, or anything else about you. He does not look at any of those things. God is no respecter of persons. He looks only at the heart of people.
God knows your heart. If you have not been born again, today is the day of Salvation for you. Today is the day to give your heart to the Lord. No one can do it for you.
God can change you, and He can also……..turn the tide
Praising Him, Doreen
