Genesis 41:16 And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.
Joseph was blessed with the Gift of Dream Interpretation. He was a dreamer himself, but he also could interpret the dreams of others.
In the 40th Chapter of Genesis we read where Joseph correctly interpreted the dreams of the Pharaoh’s chief butler and chief baker. He did not tell them what they necessarily wanted to hear, he gave them the interpretation as the Lord gave it to him. One dream resulted favorably and the other in death.
In the 41st Chapter we read where the Pharaoh had a dream and wanted it interpreted. He called for all the magicians of Egypt and the wise men, but none were able to interpret the Pharaoh’s dream.
Then, his chief baker remembered Joseph (who was in the dungeon) and told Pharaoh of his ability to interpret dreams. Pharaoh called for Joseph to come and interpret his dream.
In a matter of minutes, Joseph went from the dungeon to the palace before the Pharaoh because of the Gift God had given him. Joseph could have taken personal credit for his ability to interpret dreams, but he knew all the glory belonged to God and so he answered Pharaoh saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.
All things good come from God. The Gifts we possess are blessings from Him. The natural talents and abilities we were born with are part of how He created us. Let us look to Joseph as our example in regard to our Gifts, talents, and abilities.
He said, It is not in me: God….. Let us respond in the same way when our Gifts are sought after. Understand that without God we are nothing. We would have no Gifts, talents or the ability to do anything. When we understand where our Gifts, talents and abilities come from, we will give God all the credit and glory knowing, It is not in me: God…..
Only God can……..turn the tide
It is not in me but God, Doreen
