Matthew 5:13-16 You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.
Jesus said we, the Body of Christ, are the salt and light of the world. Salt is a preservative and an enhancement to food. Light is required for growth. Nothing can grow without light.
As Christians, we are to devote our lives to being Salt and Light for Jesus Christ. It is our responsibility to preserve, enhance, and help the Body to grow. On our own, we can do nothing, but with Christ all things are possible!
The reason the Body of Christ is not growing and thriving in America today is because Christians are not doing what they have been called and set apart to do; be Salt and Light to the lost and dying world. It’s a choice and most believers today are not choosing to be Salt and Light. Instead, they are choosing to be salt and pepper which is a combination of black and white. This mode of operation will fail every time!
We cannot be black on one day and white the next. We have to choose whom we will serve and if we choose Jesus, then we must SERVE HIM and be the Salt and the Light this world so desperately needs. Jesus said salt without flavor is good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. He also told us to not hide our light under a basket. If you are a born-again Christian you are the Salt and Light of the earth. Let God use you to enhance the faith of others, preserve the Gospel of Christ, Light up the world for the Truth, and cause growth in the Kingdom of God.
This is WHY we live! This is WHY we were created! This is WHY we are alive at this time!
The enemy is in our backyard. He is attacking this nation and Christianity like never before. Where is the Salt and the Light? We cannot sit back and expect someone else to do our part.
One day we will each stand before God and give account of our lives. He won’t care about how many ball games, rodeos, or dance recitals you went to. He won't care about how many Sundays you sat in church and did nothing. None of those things will matter. The ONLY thing that will matter is…..What we have done for the Kingdom of God in the Name of Jesus. Everything else is all hay and stubble and it will burn up.
When we spend our time on foolish things of this world our salt loses its flavor and our light is hidden. Jesus was whipped and nailed to a wooden Cross until He died........for you! You were a priority to Him. The attitude of many today is that of entitlement. I have heard people say, "I deserve what I receive. They owe it to me." No one owes us. If God gave us what we deserve, it would be very bad. God did not give us what we deserve. He gave us His Only Son who died so that we might live FOREVER IN HEAVEN! What is that worth to you?
Make Jesus a priority in your life. Let your Light shine. Put some Salt on some people today. They need it. We all need it! America needs it! STOP wasting time! There is little time to waste.
