Occupy Till I Come

Luke 19:13 Occupy till I come.

In the first Verses of the Book of Acts, Luke records their last meeting with Jesus prior to His Ascension. He had already been Crucified, Buried, and Resurrected. He came back to Earth in His Glorified Body and was seen by well over 500 people during this forty-day period of time. What we have been studying for the last several days happened during that forty-day period.

These people lived at one of the most exciting times ever! Think about it for a minute. Just imagine being in the crowd listening to Jesus as He Taught. Seeing Him personally. Walking with Him and watching Him Touch people and Heal them! Imagine then watching Him be lifted up on the Cross and Crucified and then Buried. Imagine being Mary Magdalene and going to His tomb to find Him gone and then seeing Him there in the garden and having Him talk to you!

Luke experienced all this! He was with Jesus a lot and now he would be among the 500 people listening to Jesus speak again prior to his Ascension. Jesus had told them what would happen but they just couldn’t bring themselves to believe it.

Luke was an intelligent and educated man. He was a trained and experienced medical physician. He knew a Miracle when he saw one. His recordings of the Life and Times of Jesus on Earth are well worth your study. I presume that Luke sat there that day listening intently to Jesus and spent hours trying to piece together all of what Jesus had Taught them and what He told them would happen.

Jesus used Parables in His Teaching a lot and most of the people didn’t understand them. However, it seems as though Luke was able to read between the lines, if you will. He is the only one who recorded Jesus’ Parable of the pounds. We find it in the 19th Chapter of the Gospel of Luke.

In that Parable we find this: A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. (Luke 19:12-13)

We don’t know if Luke totally understood the meaning of this Parable, but he was the only one who wrote it down and those four words would prove to be their instructions from Jesus for the rest of their life: OCCUPY TILL I COME. As well, these Words are our instructions for life.

That’s all the Master said. Is that all we are doing? Yesterday, I shared what I am going through right now in the ministry here in Caney, OK. You might want to go back and read it. It’s entitled: Do What You Are Told.

Bottom line: The Church (that’s us) is supposed to do what God tells us to do; nothing more; nothing less. That is to occupy till Jesus comes back. He IS coming back and it won’t be long now.

Very soon He will……….turn the tide

I pray you are ready,          Doreen
