Oh Happy Day!

Romans 7:21 I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who will to do good.

The Book of Romans is one of the most important Books in all the Bible. In this Book, the Apostle Paul explains the sin nature that reigns in everyone and the remedy for the sin nature. Whether we will admit it or not, we all have the sin nature within us and we all struggle with it all the time.

The Apostle Paul shares his own struggle with sin even though he had previously been totally transformed by God. How is it that one can be Saved and born again and still struggle with so much sin in their life? The answer is the sin nature we are all born with due to the fall of mankind way back in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve disobeyed God.

Paul wrote of his struggle with sin in the 7th Chapter of the Book of Romans. For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. (Romans 7:15)Paul does not tell us what the sin is that he dealt with because it doesn’t matter. Sin is sin and it all results in death. The wages of sin is death. (Romans 3:23)

Sin has always been the problem with mankind. The Law God imposed on the people allowed people to see their sin. That’s what Law does. Example: When driving down a highway we don’t know we are driving too fast until we see the speed limit sign. The sign tells us what the law is. Until then, we do not know we are breaking the law even though we are driving too fast. If we are caught breaking the law by driving too fast, we are made to pay a fine in payment of our wrongdoing.

The Sacrificial system of the Old Testament was put in place to pay for the sins committed. The Ten Commandments and all the other Laws showed the people their sin. The Sacrificial system paid the fine, so to speak. However, all the sacrifices that were made did not take away the sin, they only covered them.

If a person commits a crime (breaks the law) they are required to spend time in prison for this crime. When released from prison, they have served the time and they have paid their debt to society but the conviction is still, and forever shall be, on their record. The time spent only covered the crime. It did not take the crime away. Every conviction of a broken law will forever be on our record. This is called a rap sheet and it is a list of all prior convictions. No matter what, it’s always there for a Judge to see.

When Jesus Christ died on the Cross of Calvary, He not only paid the price for our sins, He removed them from the remembrance of God, who is the Judge. It is as if they never happened IF, IF, IF, we believe that He did this for us. We must believe in Him to receive from Him this Justification. that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto Righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto Salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)

Our faith in Christ Crucified wipes our record clean in the eyes of God! Jesus willingly gave His Life so we can be set free from all the sin in our lives. When the born-again believers in Christ stand before Him at the Judgment Seat of Christ, the Judge will see no sins because they were all paid for by the shed Blood of Christ and they have been permanently removed from our record. Nothing will show up on our rap sheet! NOTHING!

As the old song goes, Oh, happy day. Oh, happy day. When Jesus washed my sins away! He did it but you must believe it to receive it.

This is how God will……..….turn the tide……….in your life.

Oh, happy day!         Doreen
