On Fire!

Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the Day of Redemption.

Every born-again believer in Jesus Christ is the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit is a Person. He is the Third Person of the Godhead. He has a personality and a purpose like all persons.

The Holy Spirit is the Gift of God to all believers. Do you not know that you are the Temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16) We are the dwelling place of the Spirit of God. He is there to Teach, Counsel, Guide, and Help us in every aspect of our lives.

The Holy Spirit of God is symbolized in several ways in the Word of God. Among others, He is often described as water, wind, a dove, a cloud, oil, and fire. The Apostle Paul warned the Thessalonians to not quench the Spirit. Do not quench the Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5:19)

The Greek word for quench refers to the stifling or suppressing of a flame. In this instance, Paul uses fire to symbolize the Holy Spirit of God that dwells within every believer. This Fire burns within us and Paul wrote about this to Timothy as well. Therefore, I remind you to keep ablaze the Gift of God that is in you through the laying on of my hands. (2 Timothy 1:6)

In Exodus and Hebrews, the Presence of the Lord is described as a consuming fire. This Presence is the Presence of the Holy Spirit of God and speaks of passion, power, purity, zeal, boldness, and enthusiasm. When we allow the Holy Spirit to Guide and Direct us, all these things will be in full operation in our lives.

John the Baptist said I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will Baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. (John 3:11)

The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity. He is God. Therefore, He cannot be totally snuffed out but he can be quenched or stifled. This is what Paul meant when he warned the Ephesians to not grieve the Holy Spirit. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the Day of Redemption. (Ephesians 4:30)

As a born-again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit of God is dwelling within you. He is there to help you in all areas of your life. Be still and listen for His still small Voice. He will teach you, guide you into all truth, and enhance your life unlike anything else you have ever known.

Let the Fire of the Holy Spirit burn. Stir it up and keep that Fire burning! The result will be Divine Passion, Power, Purity, Zeal, Boldness, and Enthusiasm for the Lord Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God. Hallelujah!

The Fire of the Holy Spirit will……….turn the tide……….in your life.
