One Accord

Acts 1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus and with His Brethren.

The Book of Acts presents the pattern for the New Testament Church. Unlike the Old Testament ways, men and women all met together in one accord. They prayed together and made supplication to God, together. Under the Old Law, men and women were kept separate and so it is until this day.

In the 14th Verse of the First Chapter of the Book of Acts we read where they were all (men and women) gather together in the Upper Room and they were all in agreement (one accord) in their prayers and supplications. Luke made special mention of the fact that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was there in attendance with the other believers.

Jesus had taught them about the Power of praying in agreement. Matthew recorded His Words as follows: Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in Heaven. (Matthew 18:19)

I cannot stress enough the importance of praying in agreement. When two or more gather together and pray in agreement, Jesus will intercede on our behalf to our Heavenly Father. Of course, these prayers must be in accordance with the Word of God and God’s Will. Many times we don’t know what God’s Plan is in a certain situation, but when we search the Scriptures and pray in agreement for an answer or direction, God will most definitely respond in some way by communicating with us through His Holy Spirit.

There is an untold number of ways God speaks to us. Just to name a few there is His Word, Dreams, Visions, His Audible Voice, Music, Song Lyrics, Preachers, Teachers, Evangelists, Prophets, and Pastors. God has even spoken to people through road signs and church signs. Many people receive a Word from the Lord while alone out in His Creation. Wherever you are, God can speak to you IF you are open to being quiet and seeking His Voice.

There is a time to be alone with God and there are times to come together in agreement with others and pray. Suffice it to say that whatever the need, God has the answer, direction, protection, and/or provision. He can do all things. Nothing is impossible with Him. Trust Him.

Place your full trust in the Lord. Only He can……….turn the tide
