Acts 16:6-7 Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the Word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them.

Paul and Silas were traveling around preaching the Gospel of Christ. This was God’s Plan and Purpose for their lives. It would appear that they moved from place to place and preached to the people anywhere they could.

However, we read in Acts 16:6-7 that it was the Holy Spirit that closed certain doors. Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the Word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. (Acts 16:6-7)

If they were operating in the Will of God and doing what God planned for their lives, why would the Holy Spirit close some doors? That is a very good question for which we do not have an answer only that God is omniscient. This means that He knows everything; past, present, and future. God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. (1 John 3:20) Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, “My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure.” (Isaiah 46:9-10)

While we do not have the answer as to why God closes some doors, we do know that He loves us and knows what is best for us. Perhaps He is protecting us from something. Our job is not to question God and the leading and direction of the Holy Spirit. Our job is to trust Him implicitly and obey the leading and direction of the Holy Spirit.

If He closes a door, don’t push it open and force your way in. He knows what’s behind that door. You do not. His Plans are always good and He wants the best for us and His Kingdom. We would be well advised to operate as Paul and Silas did. When the Holy Spirit closed a door for their ministry they simply went somewhere else where the door was open.

God will open doors to…...….turn the tide……..in your life.

Thank you Lord for open doors.         Doreen
