John 14:25-26 These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
Yesterday we initiated a discussion on the Trinity; the Three Persons of the Godhead. They are, God the Father, The Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. Of the Three, the Holy Spirit is the most difficult to understand and yet, He is Who actually lives within us to Teach, Guide, Counsel and Help us along our way.
At the moment in time when a person believes and accepts the Sacrificial, Finished Work of Christ on the Cross, the Holy Spirit comes into them to dwell. The following is a sampling of Scriptures on this subject:
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. (Romans 8:11)
That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. (2 Timothy 1:14)
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. (Romans 8:9)
The Holy Spirit of God actually lives inside every believer. The Word of God says that we are the Temple of God where the Spirit dwells. Our bodies are our home. All homes consist of living space where people dwell. God does not intend for the Holy Spirit to be a temporary or visiting house guest in our home. Rather, He is a PERMANENT resident to whom we are to give up control. That’s the hard part!
My friends, the HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD; the Third Person of the Godhead, lives inside you! He IS God! He has the same mind as God the Father and Jesus Christ AND He is the Power Source of God to help you all the time. He does not come and visit you on Sunday morning while you sit in church. He is there, inside you all the time; continuously and consistently. He never changes because He is God.
You have the Power and the Mind of God living inside you! He knows everything about everything. He knows the Right way to do everything. He is there to Guard, Guide and Direct every move you make and every word you speak. BUT, in order for Him to do this, you have to give Him control of your house; all of it. You have to surrender your own will to the Will of God. Let Him make the decisions. Let Him tell you which way to go the what to do. That’s WHY He’s there!
I would venture to say that most Christians have the Holy Spirit locked away in a back closet somewhere. How foolish is that?! Question: Who could manage your affairs better than God? If you answered, no one, then let Him do it.
When you do, He will……….turn the tide……..in your life.
