Luke 9:23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”
It is impossible to overcome the struggles of everyday life without faith in Jesus. This is a daily battle against the enemy who constantly attacks us with a vengeance. Many Christians believe once they are saved, they can no longer be attacked by Satan. This is a foolish, false teaching and not Scriptural. If it were true, why would Jesus tell us to take up our cross daily and follow Him?
Don’t kid yourself my friends. Do not be deceived. The enemy attacks constantly but we have the Power of God to put him under our feet! That Power is our faith in the Cross of Christ and the Name of Jesus. The enemy cannot stand against His Name. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5:4-5)
The goal is to overcome the world, which is Satan and all his demons who attack us every day. Only born-again Christians are able to do this. All the money in the world will not overcome the enemy. Nor will great power or position. Nothing of this world can overcome the enemy and just because we had victory yesterday doesn’t mean he will not attack us today. He will and we must be ever on guard against him.
To do this we must take up our cross daily and follow Jesus. That means, let Him go ahead of us and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us because of our faith in Jesus and the Cross. This is the Victory in Jesus we sing about!
Every born-again Christian can overcome the world. This is a Promise of God, but it ONLY comes through faith in Jesus and His Sacrifice on the Cross to overcome sin, the enemy, and the world! Jesus did it all. All we have to do is believe it and put our faith SOLELY in Him and His Sacrifice. Jesus Paid It All; all to Him I owe!
Only God can bring Victory over the enemy and……..turn the tide
