Overcomers In Christ

1 John 5:4-5 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

In all wars, everyone involved must take a side. They form a military force that is trained in battle. These people are assigned weapons and taught to use them. They are also taught to defend themselves. In battle, everyone is on offense and defense simultaneously.

The spiritual battle we face every day is exactly the same except most Christian soldiers have not been trained for the battle. In fact, I would venture to say that the majority of Christians don’t even know there is a battle going on although they are right in the middle of it.

They live their Christian lives as civilians and wonder where the constant attack is coming from. They have not been taught about the enemy because the teachers don’t want to talk about him.  Because they don’t know they are in battle, they don’t put on the armor provided to them or carry the weapons they have been issued. Christians are living in a war zone and don’t even know it.

Due to their ignorance of what is going on around them, when one of their own becomes severely wounded, they leave them for dead or finish them off themselves. Christians are the only people who abandon or shoot their own wounded and it’s all due to a lack of knowledge of the battle. A wounded Christian is viewed as a traitor and banished from the army.

Millions of wounded Christians attend church every Sunday seeking help only to hear a flowery sermon about how wonderful everything is. They put their money in the offering plate when it goes by in hope that it will buy them a little peace. When it’s over they are sent right back out into the battle where they face the same enemy day after day.

With every day that passes, they become weaker and weaker and they don’t understand what is happening to them. They are afraid to tell their church friends how they really feel and what is going on when they are not at church, because they know what happened to the last one who did.

So, every Sunday they drag themselves out of bed, put on their church clothes, fix their church face (mask), and gather up their church attitude. They get in their church car and go to that place called church, hoping beyond hope to hear something that will help them. Unfortunately, in most cases, they don’t and as the weeks go by, they become worse and worse as the battle within them rages out of control. Eventually many simply quit trying, stop going to church, and give in to the enemy, taking sides with him.

Hello out there! ! !  We don’t have to live this way. We can have Victory over the enemy. We have been given the Armor of God to wear every day. We have weapons that will defeat the enemy. The Victory has already been won for us and most of us don’t even know that!

Be encouraged today! You can live in Victory! You can overcome the devil and his evil schemes. You can know the Joy of the Lord and the Peace that passes understanding. There is Hope and it is in the Lord Jesus Christ and His Sacrifice on the Cross for you.

Don’t give up and give in. Hold on because you are on the winning side and Victory is in sight! Our Commander made us a promise and said, No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me," Says the Lord.

Victory in Jesus will……..turn the tide

Walking in Victory,      Doreen
