Passover Feast

1 Corinthians 5:7 For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.

Spring is in the air and at this time of the year, our thoughts go to the Crucifixion of Jesus and His Resurrection. Some Christians today celebrate the Jewish Feasts as outlined in Leviticus 23. God set forth seven Feasts, four in the spring and three in the fall of every year. The Spring Feasts were Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits, and Weeks.

The Spring Feasts set forth by God were Prophecies and they painted the picture of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, and have already been fulfilled by Him. Therefore, there is no reason to celebrate these Feast Days. Rather, we celebrate Jesus every day!

The first Feast is Passover. It is a Jewish Festival celebrating the exodus from Egypt and the Israelites’ freedom from slavery to the Egyptians. In the 6th Chapter of Exodus, we read that God promised to redeem His people from the bondage of Pharaoh. Therefore say to the children of Israel: “I am the Lord; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. (Exodus 6:6)

This is when God sent Moses to Egypt and commanded Pharaoh to Let my people go! (Exodus 8:1) Pharaoh refused to release the Israelites so God sent ten plagues on the land of Egypt. On the night of the tenth plague, God told His people to sacrifice a spotless lamb and use the blood to paint their doorposts. When the Lord came through the nation He would see the homes with the blood and pass over them. All others would be killed. Those families who were obedient to the command of the Lord and had the blood of the sacrificial lamb on their doorpost would be saved from the deadly plague.

Jesus is the fulfillment of the Passover Feast. He is our Passover. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. (1 Corinthians 5:7) He is the Passover Lamb of God. He was Crucified at Passover time. When we believe in Him and by faith apply His Blood to our lives we are Saved from death and the bondage of the enemy. We are Redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb of God!

Therefore, let us celebrate the fact that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Passover Feast. He is our Passover Lamb. His Blood has us Saved from death. John Foote wrote a song about this in 1892. It’s called “When I See the Blood.”

Christ our Redeemer died on the Cross, Died for the sinner, paid all his due; Sprinkle your soul with the Blood of the Lamb, and He will pass, will pass over you.

Chiefest of sinners, Jesus will save; As He has promised, that He will do; Wash in the fountain opened for sin, And He will pass, will pass over you.

Judgment is coming, all will the there. Each one receiving justly his due; Hide in the saving sin-cleansing Blood, and He will pass, will pass over you.

O great compassion! O boundless love! O loving-kindness, faithful and true! Find peace and shelter under the Blood, and He will pass, will pass over you.

CHORUS: When I see the Blood. When I see the Blood, When I see the Blood, I will pass, I will pass over you.

Does God see the Blood of the Lamb on you?

The Blood of the Lamb of God will……….turn the tide……..in your life!

Thank God for the Blood.         Doreen
