Acts 2:24 Whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.
Today is Resurrection Sunday! On this day we remember and celebrate the FACT that Jesus Christ rose from the grave after being Crucified for the sins of the entire world.
Many people have tried to dispute the Gospel of Christ by attempting to prove that Jesus is not the Son of God and that He did not die on the Cross or rise from the dead on the third day. Try as they may, they have never been able to do this because no one can prove the Truth to be a falsehood.
The Bible and many other History books tell of His Crucifixion because a great number of people were present that Day and watched the whole thing happen. They saw the guards nail Him to the Cross. They heard Him speak to the thief on the cross next to Him. They watched Him suffer and die. This was God’s Purpose in sending His Son to live on earth for 33 years. God sent Him here to die on the Cross for the sins of the world. (John 3:16)
Jesus’ death on the Cross paid the price for every sin ever committed. It was the payment that concluded the transaction between God and mankind. Jesus paid the price God required and He did so with His Life’s Blood. When He said, “It is finished” (John 19:30) the transaction was complete; the debt of sin had been atoned for; paid in full once and for all.
As it is with any monetary transaction, a receipt is drawn up. This receipt is proof that payment has been made and the terms of the transaction were complete. The Resurrection of Christ is the final Proof of Who Jesus is and What He did. It is the Receipt for the transaction that had taken place three days prior and every time He appeared to someone AFTER His death, He provided the proof they needed to believe. to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. (Acts 1:3)
When Jesus died, they took Him down off the Cross and buried Him just as they did every man who was crucified in those days. To crucify someone on a cross was the common form of capital punishment. Hundreds, if not thousands, of men had been put to death on a cross for their wrongdoing. It was the death penalty used at that time in history. Not unlike a firing squad, hanging, electric chair, or lethal injection to put a convicted criminal to death today and in recent history. In every case, the result was death, the price was paid and the case was closed. That person had paid his debt to society and was dead!
However, in Jesus’ case, while He was indeed put to death and He did pay the debt of sin which He did not owe, the grave could not hold Him. He wasn’t dead! He was buried in the tomb, but He rose from the dead and is still alive today!
His Crucifixion was the transaction concerning the Payment required by God for the sin of the world. His Resurrection is the Receipt proving that Payment had been made……..IN FULL! Hallelujah!
Faith in Jesus will…...….turn the tide
He is alive! Doreen
