Philip Transported

Acts 8:39 Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more, and he went on his way rejoicing.

Philip was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. He was Called by God as an Evangelist and he was obedient to that Calling on his life. For the past several days we have studied about his ministry and have come to the point when he met the Ethiopian eunuch on the side of the road.

God had a Plan for this man’s life and Philip happened upon him at precisely the right time. This Diving Appointment changed his life forever and the lives of many as he shared his testimony back home in Ethiopia. Tradition has it that even the Queen of Ethiopia gave her heart to the Lord.

After Philip baptized the Ethiopian something happened that is the only such recording in the New Testament. Luke tells it like this. Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing. (Acts 8:39)

Yes, you read that right! God transported Philip from that place to the city Azotus which was about 25 miles away. As they came up out of the water, Philip simply disappeared! This must have been the frosting on the cake of the Ethiopian’s testimony! It wouldn’t surprise me if he thought Philip was an Angel but we all know he wasn’t.

The Bible goes on to tell us what happened to Philip. But Philip was found at Azotus. And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea. (Acts 8:40) Philip didn’t know what happened to himself either. One minute he was in the water with an Ethiopian and the next minute he was 25 miles away in a place called Azotus.

God supernaturally moved Philip but he didn’t stop there and bask in the wonderment of what God had done. He just kept walking and preaching the Gospel of Christ in every city he came to until he got to Caesarea which was about 60 miles from Azotus.

This is where Philip made his home and much of the ruins still remain there today. It is a beautiful place right on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea, named after Philip and known as Caesarea Philippi. I was privileged to visit this place in 2018 and it truly was a sight to behold as was all of Israel. If you ever have the chance to go to Israel, do it. You will never read the Bible the same again as it will all come to life right before your eyes!

All things are possible with God. Trust in Him and believe!

He wants to……..….turn the tide……….in your life.
