Power And Money

Acts 4:1 And as they spoke unto the people, the Priests, and the Captain of the Temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them.

Peter was leading the Church and speaking to the people every day. Jews were giving their hearts to Jesus in great numbers on a daily basis. The Priests, Pharisees, and Sadducees were not happy about it at all. Their position in the Synagogue was threatened.

This is exactly what we see happening in the Church today. People have built huge personal empires on the back of the Gospel of Christ. They have used Jesus and the Gospel to draw people in and give them money.

All you need to do is look at the financial statements of these huge “Christian” organizations. You will find that they are big businesses and very little (if any) ministry. The Ministry is a front for what is really going on behind closed doors. .

These people are not ministers of the Gospel of Christ, they are modern-day Pharisees and Sadducees who have climbed the ladder of personal success by way of the suffering and shed Blood of Jesus. All I can say is that I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes on Judgment Day.

My point is that nothing has changed. In the time of the First Church, it was the hierarchy of the religious people that hindered the work of the Church and it is the same today. People flock to beautiful facilities to listen to well-known speakers in silk suits. They pay for a high-priced ticket and stand in line for hours to get a glimpse of that person when they arrive in their stretch limousine or leer jet. These people are multi-millionaires that have built their personal fortunes off hurting people who come to their meetings in search of spiritual help.

Are they building the Kingdom of God or are they building a personal empire for themselves? It’s pretty obvious that in most cases it is the latter. I pray for these people because they have been attacked by the demonic spirit of greed and the love of money. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:10)

The enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy. Greed is something that takes many good people out of the Kingdom of God. Power and money are two very strong motivators. This was so in the days of the First Church and it is still the case today. It has always been the spirit of religion that has fought the Gospel of Christ. Nothing has changed. Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (1 John 4:1)

The Gospel of Christ will……….turn the tide
