1 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of Power and of Love and of a sound mind.
As Peter and John stood before the Sanhedrin answering their questions, the Holy Boldness came over them. They not only spoke the Name of Jesus, but they also gave Him all the praise and Glory for the healing of the crippled man at the Temple Gate while reminding the Sanhedrin that they were the ones who murdered Jesus.
Not too many days prior to this, Peter denied Christ three times. Matthew recorded what happened that day. Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, “You also were with Jesus of Galilee.” But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you are saying.” And when he had gone out to the gateway, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, “This fellow also was with Jesus of Nazareth.” But again he denied with an oath, “I do not know the Man!” And a little later those who stood by came up and said to Peter, “Surely you also are one of them, your speech betrays you.” Then he began to curse and swear, saying, “I do not know the Man! Immediately a rooster crowed. And Peter remembered the Word of Jesus Who had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” So he went out and wept bitterly.
On Crucifixion Day, Peter denied Christ claiming he didn’t even know Him. Now, a short time later, he stood before the highest court of the land and boldly took a stand for Him. What happened? Why the big change?
The change came with the infilling of the Holy Spirit Who brings Power, Love, and a sound mind to those who are filled. When Peter was confronted by the young girl in the courtyard, fear came over him and he denied Christ. He was afraid of what the men at the top would do to him if he affiliated himself with Jesus.
However, after being filled with the Holy Spirit, all that fear was gone. He now had a boldness he had never known before. This is what the Apostle Paul wrote to young Timothy about. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of Power and of Love and of a sound mind.
The Holy Spirit has not changed. He is still filling people with His Power to boldly proclaim the Name of Jesus anywhere and everywhere. Do you have this Holy Boldness? In the days to come, we will need to be bold in our faith and take a stand for the Name of Jesus. Pray for the infilling of the Holy Spirit. He will take away all fear and give you Power, Love, and a sound mind. Hallelujah!
The infilling of the Holy Spirit will……….turn the tide……..in your life.
Thank you Holy Spirit, Doreen
