Acts 4:29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your Word.
Peter and John met the crippled beggar at the Temple Gate named Beautiful. In the Name of Jesus, they spoke healing over the man and he was instantly healed. This infuriated the Chief Priests and Elders to the point that they imprisoned Peter and John.
The next morning they were made to stand before the high court who could find no fault with them but ordered them to cease and desist their ministry or any talk about Jesus. Their “crime” was that they were taking power away from the religious leaders and this would not be tolerated.
Peter and John were then released and they returned to be with the body of believers which at this time had grown to several thousand! They had no intention of obeying the order of the court. On the contrary, they joined together in one accord and prayed for boldness to go forth with the Ministry of sharing the Gospel of Christ and operating in the Power of the Holy Spirit.
It was all recorded by Luke in the 4th Chapter of the Book of Acts. It reads: And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made Heaven and Earth and the sea, and all that is in them, who by the mouth of Your servant David have said: ‘Why did the nations rage, and the people plot vain things? The kings of the earth took their stand, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against His Christ.’ For truly against Your Holy Servant Jesus, whom You Anointed both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together to do whatever Your Hand and Your Purpose determined before to be done. Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your Word, by stretching out Your Hand to Heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the Name of Your Holy Servant Jesus.” (Acts 4:23-29)
Please note that they prayed for protection and boldness to minister. This was the exact opposite of what they had been ordered by the high courts. They prayed that the Lord would continue to use them in His Ministry of Miracles, Signs, and Wonders.
Question: Is this what the Church is praying for today? Are we praying for boldness to speak the Name of Jesus and for the Lord to perform Miracles, Signs, and Wonders? Unfortunately, in the majority, this is not the case.
God has put in place a Pattern for His Church to operate. We find the best example in the Book of Acts. Let us go forward in boldness and speak the Name of Jesus and let us EXPECT the Holy Spirit of God to empower the Church to see many Miracles, Signs, and Wonders.
Boldness for Christ will……….turn the tide……..in this world.
Praying for boldness, Doreen
