The Holy Spirit of God has been present and active since the beginning and throughout all of History. Many Christians, Churches, and entire denominations have discounted the Ministry of the Holy Spirit. This is a travesty!

 

Creation: The Holy Spirit was present at the time of Creation. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. (Genesis 1:2)

 

Old Testament History: There are literally hundreds of Scriptures that substantiate the fact that the Holy Spirit was present and active during Old Testament times. The following are just two. The Spirit of the Lord was upon him, and he judged Israel. (Exodus 3:10) Cast me not away from Your Presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. (Psalms 51:11)

 

Old Testament Prophets: The Prophets of Old were visited by the Holy Spirit who gave them the Word of the Lord. The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, and His Word was on my tongue. (2 Samuel 23:2) For prophecy never came by the will of man, but Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:21)

 

Incarnation: The Holy Spirit formed the Body of Jesus in Mary’s womb. Now the Birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 1:18) Then Mary said to the Angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” And the Angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the Power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:34-35)

 

Jesus’ Earthly Ministry. The Ministry of the man, Christ Jesus, was all done by the Power of the Holy Spirit. How God Anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with Power, Who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. (Acts 10:38)

 

Death of Jesus on the Cross. How much more shall the Blood of Christ, Who through the Eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from the dead works to serve the Living God? (Hebrews 9:14)

 

Resurrection. The Power that raised Jesus from the tomb was the Holy Spirit. And declared to be the Son of God with Power according to the Spirit of Holiness, by the Resurrection from the dead. (Romans 1:4)

 

Pentecost. This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. Therefore being exalted to the Right Hand of God, and having received from the Father the Promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. (Acts 2:32)

 

Having reached the bottom of the page, we will continue this study on the Presence and Operation of the Holy Spirit tomorrow. Never discount the Holy Spirit. Seek to know Him in a more intimate way because He is and always has been, the Power of God!
