Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
Humility is a characteristic God has always required of His people. Throughout the Word of God, we find Him calling people into a state of humility. There are many Passages of Scripture on this subject and we would be well advised to read them and heed them.
To read something is not at all the same as to heed it. We can read something and even memorize the words but not put it into practice in our daily lives. God’s Word is for us to read AND heed. When we read the Word we hear the Words in our head. We also hear the Words when spoken by other people but do we heed the Word of God and put it into practice?
Jesus’ brother, James, wrote on this very subject. Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted Word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the Word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be Blessed in what he does. (James 1:21-25)
God wants us to humble ourselves because He cannot use people who are prideful and arrogant. God speaks to us in various ways and He expects us to listen and obey. When it comes to His Word, He expects us to read and heed. When we fail to heed His Word and apply it to our daily lives, God will speak to us in other ways.
When God wants us to learn something, He brings confirmation to us and He will use all sorts of things to do this. He speaks through dreams, visions, music, billboards, advertisements, bumper stickers, social media, and other people. When we hear, read, and receive the same Message through different methods, we would be wise to heed His Message.
When we fail to heed the Word of God and obey Him, He will put us in a place where we WILL heed His Word. And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His Commandments or not. (Deuteronomy 8:2)
Therefore, if you find yourself in a bad place right now, consider the fact that God is trying to get your attention. He wants to Bless you but He can’t do it until you listen and obey; read and heed. This brings us right back to where we started today because to obey and heed God requires humility.
The fact is, we cannot do this on our own. None of us can. So, let us place our full faith and trust in the One Who can! That Person is the Holy Spirit of God and His Power is released according to our faith in the Finished Work of the Cross of Christ. Every Blessing of God comes to us by way of our faith in Jesus and what He accomplished on the Cross. He said, I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10)
Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Place your total faith in Him. He paid it all so you can have it all. Be humble. Listen and obey. Read and heed. Decrease so He can increase. Surrender more and receive more. Keep Jesus first in your life and receive all that He has for you.
Jesus went to the Cross to…...….turn the tide……..in this world.
