Rescue Boat

1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or anything in the world.

Yesterday, we drew an analogy. It was a word picture of the world and all its evil is like the ocean and the Christian being like a boat. Christians are out in the waters of the world but we are not to allow the water of the world to be in us. We are IN the world but not OF the world.

Lost sinners are in the world and we are called to reach them for Christ. Therefore, we must go out into the world and be the Salt and Light of Christ. Jesus went to the Cross and shed His Perfect Blood for every lost sinner in the whole world. It is our responsibility to tell these people about Him and His great love for them. They are out there in the dark waters of the world drowning and they need a Savior.

We are to be the rescue boat, if you will. Our Light is always shining so the person who is going down for the third time can see us and be Saved. While we are on this life-long rescue mission, we must forever be mindful of the condition of our boat. The waters of the world are dark and evil. The enemy lurks around every corner and seeks to damage and destroy our boat. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8)

Daily maintenance is required to keep us safe as we embark on this constant rescue mission. In addition, we must be ever watchful of all that is trying to hurt us. Our job is to throw them the lifeline and bring lost souls on board our boat and tell them about Jesus, their Savior. We do not jump overboard into the dark evil water and enter into the sin therein.

Nor do we invite the evil of the world to come into our boat. Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love the for Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the Will of God lives forever. (1 John 2:15-17)

This is the fault of much of the Church today. They are inviting the world inside in an attempt to reach the lost. Many so-called churches today look just like the world. The music service is no different than a rock concert and the person who talks is nothing more than a motivational speaker.

We are not called to look and act like the world. We are called to come apart and be separate FROM the world. Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. (2 Corinthians 6:17) We cannot swim and play in the dark, evil waters of this world and profess to be the rescue boat at the same time. We must make the choice. Do we choose to be in the world or do we choose to be a rescue boat for Jesus in the Kingdom of God?

The choice is ours to make. Each of us must make this decision for ourselves. I cannot make this choice for you and you cannot make it for me. I have made my choice. I choose the Kingdom of God through faith in the Finished Work of Jesus Christ Who is my Savior and the Lord of my life. How about you? What do you choose?

This choice will……..….turn the tide……….in your life.

Choice made!         Doreen
