Riches And Material Goods

Mark 10:23 Then Jesus looked around and said to His Disciples, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the Kingdom of God!”

Many people read the above Passage of Scripture and believe Jesus is saying that rich people will not go to Heaven. With that thought, they oppose money or other assets because they believe if they have money and material things, they will spend eternity in Hell.

This is not at all what Jesus was saying! Let's read on for further clarity. Then Jesus looked around and said to His Disciples, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the Kingdom of God!” And the Disciples were astonished at His Words. But Jesus answered again and said to them, “Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the Kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God. (Mark 10:23-25)

Let’s look closely at the Words of Jesus. He DID NOT say that a rich person cannot enter the Kingdom of God. He said those who trust in riches. The key word here is “trust.” Most people who have a lot of money and material assets place their faith in their riches. They see money as their means of survival.

While we do need money to survive in the world, we are not to place our faith in money. God wants us to place our full faith and trust in Him not what we acquire on our own. Jesus said that He came so we can have life and life more abundantly. (John 10:10) Abundant life is a life of Peace and Joy; a life without worry or concern. Abundant Life is the Fruit of the Spirit manifested in our daily lives. Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)

All the money in the world cannot buy the Fruit of the Spirit, Salvation, Justification, Sanctification, or anything else God has for us. Every Promise of God is for us but we cannot buy them with money. Jesus suffered and died on the Cross of Calvary so we can have all these things. He called it Abundant Life.

The only way we can acquire all that God has for us is through our faith in the Finished Work of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. We cannot buy it and we cannot work for it. It all comes to us ONLY by faith in Jesus Christ. He died so we can live an Abundant Life free from the penalty of sin (eternity in Hell) and the power of sin over us now in this life (Freedom).

We cannot buy these things. We don’t have to buy them. Jesus already paid the price for them all! He bought them for us! His Perfect Blood which He willingly shed on the Cross of Calvary paid the price for us to have it all! What a Savior!

Believe it and watch God……..….turn the tide……….in your life!

Thank you, thank you, Jesus!         Doreen
