Satan Is Powerless

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the Liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

The Holy Spirit gave to the Apostle Paul the complete understanding of the New Covenant and he preached it everywhere he went. He also wrote about it in the many letters he sent to the various churches throughout the region. Some of these letters are included in what we know as the New Testament.

His letter to the Galatians brings clarity to the subject of Liberty (Freedom) from the sin nature in the life of believers. This is a subject rarely preached from the pulpit because most ministers don’t understand it themselves. You cannot preach what you don’t know.

As we discussed yesterday, God’s Will for all people is to be free from sin. That’s why He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the Cross. His Sacrifice paid for our total Freedom from the penalty of sin and the power of the enemy in our lives while we are alive.

True believers in Christ don’t want to sin. They want to live their lives pleasing to God. The problem is the sin nature that we are all born with. Without Christ, our only weapon against sin is willpower and no one has enough willpower to overcome sin. If we could do this, Jesus would not have had to go to the Cross. The fact is we cannot do this on our own no matter how hard we try.

However, we can live our lives free from sin! We can IF and WHEN we understand all that Jesus accomplished on the Cross for us. We all know that He died so we can be forgiven of all the sinful things we have done but do we know that He also died so we don’t have to continue to sin? He did! That is the REALLY good news of the Gospel of Christ and most believers don’t even know it!

Paul wrote Stand fast therefore in the Liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1) Satan hates God and God’s family. That’s us! We are the Family of God and Satan hates us all. His goal is to kill, steal, and destroy all of us (John 10:10) but he can’t do it if we understand that Jesus went to the Cross to disarm him. (Colossians 2:15) That means that Jesus took away his power against those who believe.

Jesus willingly gave His Life on the Cross so you and I can be free from the power of the enemy over our lives. Yes, he will continue to attack us, but our Victory has already been won! He is powerless against us. He is like a tiny annoying gnat in our house. It’s there but it cannot hurt you. You have been given the power over it and all the other bugs in your midst. Jesus said Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)

Sin has always been the problem for mankind. It was sin that separated Adam and Eve from God and it is still sin that separates us from God today. Jesus went to the Cross to remedy this problem. That’s why God sent Him to Earth. He went to the Cross so we don’t have to live in the bondage of sin! His Perfect Blood Sacrifice made all this possible for anyone and everyone who will believe it. For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son that WHOSOEVER believes in Him shall not perish but have Everlasting Life. (John 3:16)

Faith in the Cross of Christ will…...….turn the tide………..in your life.
