Acts 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be Saved.

Our study on the life of Cornelius yesterday has prompted quite a discussion! The simple fact is that many people today are trying to work their way to Salvation. This is a natural thing because that’s the way the world system works. We work, then we are rewarded according to the job we have done. If we put in a day's work, we receive a day's pay. While true in the world and its system, it is not true as it pertains to receiving Salvation. This simply is not God’s Way.

Salvation is God’s Free Gift to the world. He GAVE His Only Begotten Son so anyone, anywhere, who believes in Him, can be Saved. For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have Everlasting Life. (John 3:16) God loves every person on earth. He loves us all so much that He Sacrificed His Son for us. It is the Will of God that every person be Saved from spending eternity in Hell and being tortured by Satan during their natural lifetime. The Lord is not slack concerning His Promise, as some count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (1 Peter 3:9)

God made a Way for everyone to be Saved. He made A Way; One Way and it has nothing to do with work. Faith in Jesus Christ and His Finished Work on the Cross of Calvary is that Way. I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Me. (John 14:6)

God made it so simple to be Saved. The world makes it difficult. If Salvation depended on hard work, a handicapped person could not be saved. If it depended on higher education, some would be eliminated. God loves EVERYONE and wants EVERYONE to come to faith in Christ. No one is excluded. It doesn’t matter what we have done in the past. All our hard work and attempts to be good, are of no consequence when it comes to Salvation. The ONLY thing that matters is our faith in Christ and Him Crucified. This is why Paul wrote but we preach Christ Crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness but to those who are called it is the Power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:23-24)

Cornelius tried and tried to be accepted by God but as we read in the 10th Chapter of the Book of Acts we find that all his trying and working was in vain. However, God did have a Plan for Cornelius and in the next Verse of Scripture we read how God spoke to him. We will discuss that tomorrow but for today, just simply place your faith in what Jesus accomplished on the Cross of Calvary. It was there that He paid the price required by God for our sins. It was there that He did all that was required so we may be Saved and born again. We don’t have to do anything except believe it. In fact, we CAN’T do anything. Just believe it, my friends. Just believe what Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Me. (John 14:6) Hallelujah!

Faith in the Finished Work of Christ will……..….turn the tide……….in your life!
