Say "I do"

Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a Prophet to the nations.

The Church in Pergamos was committing spiritual adultery. The Church is called the Bride of Christ and as such we are to consider ourselves married to Jesus. He is our first love and He is to remain our first love. We love Him because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)

He is faithful to us and we are to be faithful to Him. Jesus gave us the First Commandment of the New Covenant. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. (Mark 12:30) When we love someone with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, we will be forever faithful to them. This is what Jesus expects of us. This is not a suggestion it is a COMMANDMENT. Anything short of this is not acceptable to Him.

If you are married, you are to be faithful to your spouse in all areas of your life. We make vows at our marriage ceremony and at that time we agree to serve each other and stand together as one, united in faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Anything short of this is considered to be adultery.

Likewise, as the Bride of Christ, we are to be faithful to Him. He is our master and we are His servants to be used in His Kingdom however He deems necessary. The Apostle Paul wrote to Titus and said, Exhort bondservants to be obedient to their own masters, to be well pleasing in all things, not answering back, not pilfering, but showing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the Doctrine of God our Savior in all things. (Titus 2:9-10)

Do you consider yourself a bondservant to Christ? Is He your Master? Are you faithful to your relationship with Him? Paul used the word fidelity which means total and complete loyalty; allegiance and devotion.

Christianity is not a religion. Rather it is a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ Who gave Himself totally for you. He loves you enough to suffer and die on the Cross of Calvary so you don’t have to spend eternity in Hell and can live an Abundant Life now. What more could we ask for?

When we put ANYTHING ahead of Jesus in our lives, we are committing spiritual adultery. Our spirits are to be tied together and nothing can separate us from Him except our own decisions to do so. When we enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ, we are in covenant with Him. He is our Master and we are His bondservant. This is a voluntary position. Jesus never forces anyone into being His servant. We voluntarily do this and when we do, we give up our old selves and take on whatever our Master has for us. Our entire identity changes; not by force but by our willingness to be changed; our willingness to be a servant of the Most High God through our faith in the Finished Work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

It’s an all-or-nothing agreement. Jesus gave His All for you. Are you willing to give your all to Him in return? If you say “I do” to Jesus, you agree to leave your past behind you and go forward with Him into whatever He has planned for you. We do not know what that may be, but whatever it is, it will be good. God had this planned for you before you were formed in your mother’s womb. It’s up to you to choose God’s Plan for your life or your own. Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a Prophet to the nations. (Jeremiah 1:5)

Before you were formed in your mother’s womb, God knew you. Before you were born He sanctified you and ordained you to be something in His Kingdom. This is His Plan for your life. This is His Calling on your life. This is WHY He created you. Will you submit to His Plan, Purpose, and Will for your life? If you say “I do” then He will expect total fidelity to your relationship with Him.

Say “I do” and God will….….turn the tide ……….in your life.

The greatest day in my life is when I said “I do.” Doreen
