Sealed With His Promise

Ephesians 1:13-14 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the Word of Truth, the Gospel of your Salvation; in Whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise, Who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the Redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His Glory.

When a person comes to faith in Christ and Him Crucified, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell inside them. The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. (John 14:17) This Holy Spirit is our Helper in every aspect of our lives. He will guide us into all Truth and keep us on the narrow road IF we heed His Voice and Help.

Our faith in Christ makes us partakers of the New Covenant. A covenant is a contract or agreement between two or more parties. Anytime a contract is drawn up, there are conditions to be met by the people involved. Sometimes it involves money changing hands or certain work being done. When all the criteria have been agreed to, all parties involved sign the document and it is then sealed by being notarized. The person doing the notarizing has the responsibility to guarantee the signatures. After doing so, they stamp their seal on the document making it thereby official.

God instituted the New Covenant between Himself and people for the Atonement of sin; Redemption. Anyone can be a part of the New Covenant if they meet the criteria set forth by God in the New Covenant. God fulfilled His part when He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the Cross of Calvary. Jesus was the payment, if you will. He paid with His Life’s Blood. This is where we get the term “blood money.”

What is at stake in the New Covenant is Redemption. Jesus paid the price for every person on earth to be Forgiven and Redeemed in the eyes of God. The part people play is to believe that the price has been paid by Jesus. In order to receive the Benefits of Salvation, one must believe that God sent His Only Son to die on the Cross of Calvary for them. Not just that He did it, but that He did it for THEM personally.

When someone truly comes to this realization and accepts what Jesus did for themselves, they enter into the New Covenant and are Saved; Redeemed; Forgiven of their sins, and set free from all bondage of sin in their life. Their soul is paid for and they are on their way to Heaven! Hallelujah!

At that point, both parties (God and the person) have met the criteria set forth by God in the New Covenant. The Saved person has been born again and God puts His seal on them. This Seal is the Holy Spirit who now dwells inside that person and will serve as their Guide, Teacher, Counselor, Advisor, Comforter, and overall Helper for the rest of their natural life.

The Apostle Paul said it like this: In Him you also trusted, after you heard the Word of Truth, the Gospel of your Salvation; in Whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise, Who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the Redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His Glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14)

Faith in the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary is the only requirement for a person to be Saved and Sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise. The Holy Spirit is God’s Promise to all of us who believe. What a Promise! What a Covenant! What a Seal!

Faith in Christ will……….turn the tide……….in your life!
