Romans 11:29 For the Gifts and the Calling of God are without repentance.
When Paul, Silas, and Timothy came to Berea, they found the people there to be eager to hear their Message. This was a welcome change as in previous cities they were persecuted, beaten, imprisoned, and driven out of town.
What was the difference? Why did these people welcome Paul and his ministry team while all the others did not? We find the answer to these questions in Verse 11. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the Word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Actually, the answer is found in the last phrase of that Verse. searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so. These people actually read and studied the Scriptures. They knew the Words of the Prophets and they believed them. So, when Paul came to town with the Message of the Gospel of Christ and his personal testimony, they believed him.
My friends, the truth of the matter is that sincere study of the Word of God will lead to faith in Christ. It cannot result in anything else. There have been people who have set out to disprove the Gospel of Christ. One such person is Lee Strobel. He was a lawyer and a good one at that. However, he was an atheist. His wife got saved and tried to talk to him about Jesus but he refused to hear of it and ridiculed her for her faith.
Being a lawyer, he set out to prove her wrong. To do this, he had to study the Scriptures and study them he did. He read and studied the whole Bible from Genesis through Revelation in an attempt to prove it all false. Although he was trying to build a case for unbelief, he just couldn’t do it!
His study resulted in his own Salvation and a tremendous Ministry through his book “A Case For Christ” and many others. You see, like the Apostle Paul, Lee Strobel was born with tremendous intelligence and zeal. Prior to their Salvation, both of them worked to discredit Christ but AFTER they came to faith in Him, their whole world changed. They were both entirely new people with the same gifts they had prior to their Salvation.
When Paul wrote his Epistle to the Romans he said For the Gifts and the Calling of God are without repentance. (Romans 11:29) This means that all Gifts and Callings of God are irrevocable. Everyone is born with what they need to fulfill God’s Plan and Purpose for their life and no one can take them away no matter what happens.
You have everything you need to do what God has for you to do. You were born with it. It doesn’t matter what others want for you. What matters is what God wants for you. His Purpose for your life is WHY you are alive on this earth at this time.
I encourage you to start reading the Bible every day. Follow the example of the Bereans who received the Word with all readiness of mind, searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so. The Word of God will never steer you wrong. It will lead you to the Truth and the Truth shall make you free. (John 8:32)
The Word of God will……...….turn the tide……..in this world.
God has a Plan. Doreen
