Set Free From Sin

1 John 5:5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

John, the Apostle, wrote on the subject of being an overcomer. The goal of every born-again believer is to overcome the world. That is to say, the Devil and his minions who seek to kill, steal and destroy us. (John 10:10)

Yesterday we discussed the fiery darts of the enemy that come at us in the form of temptation, deception, and accusation. Satan is a liar. Jesus called him the father of lies. Therefore, we cannot believe anything he says as truth because the Truth is not in him. Satan, all the fallen angels, and his demonic spirits are not capable of speaking the Truth. Absolutely every thought they plant in our heads is a LIE straight from Hell. You must know and understand this if you expect to be an overcomer.

People who are spiritually lost succumb to the Devil. They believe what he says and follow him. These people are referred to as “the world” in the Word of God. Whenever you read a reference to “the world” it is referring to those who are lost and dying and headed for an eternity in Hell.

Although these people may be classmates, workmates, neighbors, and even members of our families, they are against us because they are not with us. They are all part the “the world” and the Word of God specifically tells us to separate ourselves from them. Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. (1 Corinthians 6:17)

The first step to being an overcomer is to discern good from evil. Then we must separate ourselves from evil. We cannot play in the pigpen and not expect to get dirty. Nor can we associate with sinners and not expect to be tempted to sin.

Just as he did Eve in the Garden of Eden, Satan will tempt us to sin. He will make it sound fun, exciting, and glamourous. All this is deception and we must not be gullible and believe his lies. When we know enough about the Truth, we will immediately recognize the counterfeit and when we do, it is then our responsibility to rebuke it, cast it out, and stay away from it.

We are all responsible for our own actions and destiny. We will all answer for our words and actions. When we willingly enter into sin even though we know it to be wrong, God will chastise us. James wrote, Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. (James 4:17)

The Mercy and Grace of God endures forever, but God is also a God of Righteousness, Judgment, and Justice. When we sin it is our responsibility to repent; ask forgiveness and TURN AWAY FROM THAT SIN. That means, stop doing it. See sin as evil and come apart and be separate from it.

If it is a stronghold in your life and you can’t seem to control it, know that Jesus nailed that sin to the Cross at Calvary. He died for ALL SIN; EVERY SIN; YOUR SIN. He went to the Cross to defeat the power of Satan over you in this area or any area. It doesn’t matter what it is, Jesus nailed it to the Cross and defeated its power.

If you can believe that, you can be set free from that sin. This is the Mighty Power of the Holy Spirit of God to defeat the power of sin in our lives. This is the Ministry of Deliverance for the believer. You do not have to struggle with that thing any longer! And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the Cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. (Colossians 2:14-15)

The shed Blood of Christ will……….turn the tide……..in your life.

Praise God for the Blood of Jesus,         Doreen
