Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
In the 13th Chapter of the Gospel of Luke, we read about Jesus teaching a great multitude of people about sin and repentance. It is natural for people to believe that one sin is worse than another, but in the Eyes of God, sin is sin. Jesus spoke directly to this.
They were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? I tell you no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. (Luke 13:1-5)
In this Passage of Scripture, we find where these people were telling Jesus about this horrible thing that had been done. They had actually mixed their blood with the blood of their sacrifices! This was absolutely against the Law and they were being tattletales. Yes, what these people had done was a horrible sin but Jesus turned it right back around on them and asked, Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things?
Was this sin any worse than the sin of anyone else? Jesus answered His own question. I tell you no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Then Jesus gave them another example. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners that all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? Again He answered. I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
It’s easy to see the sin in another person but is their sin any worse than our own? No. Is the sin of a serial killer any worse than that of a liar? No. Is the sin of a rapist any worse than that of a thief? No.
Sin is sin. God hates all sin and we are all sinners. All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. (Romans 3:23) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1:8)
Luke recorded another Teaching of Jesus when He said, Or how can you say to your brother, “Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,” when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother’s eye. (Luke 6:42)
Again, sin is sin. The answer for all sin is found in the Finished Work of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. God sent Him to die on the Cross for the remission of sin; ALL SIN! No one is a worse sinner than anyone else and the shed Blood of Jesus Christ is enough to take away every sin committed by all people.
Place your faith in the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross and you will be Saved, born again, and set free from the bondage of sin and shame in your life. This is God’s ONLY Remedy for sin. Believe it!
Faith in Christ Crucified will……….turn the tide……….in your life!
Thank you Jesus! Doreen
