Sin Sick Spirit

Ephesians 4:17-19 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

Yesterday, we established the fact that all human beings are created by God in His Image. God is a Triune being; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Man is a three-part being as well; spirit, soul, and body. We also established that our spirit is God-conscious, our soul is self-conscious, and our body is world-conscious.

When Adam sinned, all three parts of him were affected. His spirit was cut off from his relationship with God. He became spiritually dead. God told man if he disobeyed Him he would die. Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the Garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die. (Genesis 2:15-17)

As a side note, God told Adam this BEFORE He created Eve. Many people want to blame Eve (and she is to blame in part) but, Adam had heard the Lord God speak to him when he was the only human being on earth.

When Adam ate of the forbidden fruit, he sinned against God. In that instant, he died spiritually. His sin separated him from God. Adam lived to be over 900 years old in the natural, but he lived all those years spiritually dead. Nowhere in the Scriptures do we read where Adam repented.

When we live in sin, we are separated from God and spiritually dead to God. No one understood this better than Paul. His letter to the Romans is a detailed description of our spiritual relationship with God. The 6th Chapter is especially descriptive and he concludes by saying For the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23)

Also, in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he describes the terrible condition of the sin-sick person. This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. (Ephesians 4:17-19)

A sinful life is a terrible and miserable way to live. People in this condition are stuck in darkness, cut off from God. They are unable to understand the Ways of God because they are spiritually blind and ignorant due to their hearts becoming hardened. They have given themselves over to Satan’s way.

Everyone was in this condition prior to their Salvation. Sin is man’s problem. Jesus Christ and Him Crucified is the Remedy. No one has to live in a sinful condition. Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand. Jesus stands ready to forgive and set the captive free from the bondage of sin. Hallelujah!

Jesus died to…...….turn the tide……..in this world.

Praise God!         Doreen
