John 15:26-27 But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth Who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

 

When Jesus was alive on earth, He was the Leader of the Church. Those who chose to believe in Him became His Followers or Disciples. Jesus’ Ministry consisted of Teaching, Healing, and Deliverance. He possessed all the Spiritual Gifts and He used them all in His Ministry.

 

In the Book of John, we read where Jesus spoke to the people and told them what would happen after He ascended to Heaven. They were used to Him being with them and could not understand the role of the “Helper.” We know this Person to be the Holy Spirit, but most believers still do not understand Who He is and What is available to them through Him.

 

But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth Who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning. (John 15:26-27)

 

These people knew the Words of the Prophets. They had waited for the Messiah for centuries and finally, He came and was actually living in their midst! I can’t even imagine how excited they must have been to be sitting at the feet of Jesus, the Messiah, and listening to Him teach.

 

Jesus did not begin his Ministry until He was thirty years old. At that time it was the Jewish Law that no man could function as a Priest until he was thirty. Therefore, Jesus only ministered on this earth for three and one-half years but in that short time, He touched thousands of people and performed so many Miracles, all the books in the world could not hold them. John wrote: And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. (John 21:25)

 

After just three and one-half years, Jesus told them that He was going away. What? He just got here! Why after waiting for centuries for Him to come, could He go away after such a short time? The people simply could not understand it. Of course, they did not want Him to go away. They wanted Him to stay with them and never leave them.

 

Understandably, the people at that time were totally engulfed by the Presence of Jesus. They wanted to spend every minute with Him. They were not considering His REAL Purpose for coming to Earth as a man. They were only considering themselves and the fact that they were actually alive on Earth at the same time as Jesus was.

 

Think of that! What it must have been like for those few thousand people who were in the crowd when Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount! Wouldn’t it have been wonderful to be one of the 10,000 people sitting on the beach that day when Jesus spoke from the boat and then fed them all with just five loaves of bread and two fish!

 

This excitement is what God wants us all to feel every day as we live with Jesus in our hearts. He is with us. He speaks to us just as if we were sitting on the beach listening to Him talk. Are you listening to Him or are you preoccupied with yourself and the things of this world? Jesus wants our undivided attention. Give it to Him.

 

If we will just listen, He will……….turn the tide……..in His Church and around the world.
