Sorcery and witchcraft have always been active in the world but in the recent past, it has made its way into the Church unlike ever before. What is sorcery? The Dictionary defines it as magic; enchantment; witchcraft; divination; assisting evil spirits, and commanding evil spirits.
There are two types of spirits: Good and evil. Good spirits are of God and the Holy Spirit. Evil spirits are of the Devil and are demonic in nature. ALL forms of magic are evil in nature and should be avoided by believers.
While some people find magic entertaining, it is something that should not be a part of the life of any believer. The things magicians do are called “magic tricks” because they are tricks. This is all the work of the enemy to deceive people into believing it is just fun and games. Anything the enemy does is not fun and games. Jesus told us that he comes ONLY to kill, steal, and destroy. (John 10:10)
Sorcery and witchcraft are spoken of throughout the Bible and always in a negative way. God hates sorcery because it is the scheme of Satan. It is trickery and evil power while the Holy Spirit is the real, supernatural Power of God to perform Miracles, Signs, and Wonders. There is no comparison!
The Word of God warns us of the pitfalls of sorcery and witchcraft. Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God. (Leviticus 19:31) In this Passage we find God instructing His people to not seek after these demonic spirits because the result is defilement.
People have always been intrigued by knowing what lies ahead in the future for them. Because of this, they seek the advice of fortune tellers, tarot cards, astrology, mediums, palm readers, etc. All these things are of the Devil and should be strictly avoided because they are the work of evil, dark spirits. People who practice these things are assisting the Devil in his work.
When we entertain these evil spirits and invite them into our spirit, we find ourselves overcome by dark spirits such as oppression and depression. This is where Satan wants us; locked in a dark room burdened with pain and using prescription drugs to function. We will discuss this more tomorrow.
As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, God wants us to place our full faith and trust in the Power of the Holy Spirit who will lead us and guide us into the Light where the Fruit of the Spirit will be made manifest in our lives. But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)
We all must choose to live in the dark world of Satan or in the Light of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is not a game. It is very real because the enemy wants to ruin your life and kill you. Do not be ignorant of his devices.
If you have EVER been exposed to any form of sorcery or witchcraft, as a believer in the shed Blood of Christ, you have the Power of God to rebuke these demonic spirits out of your life. Jesus died that you can be set free from this bondage and darkness and live your life in the Light of the Holy Spirit of God!
Choose the Light. It will….….turn the tide ……….in your life.
