Soul Sick

Job 41:34 He is king over all the children of pride.

When Adam sinned, his entire body was affected. His spirit, soul, and body would be changed because of his disobedience. Yesterday, we discussed how his sin affected his spirit. He was cut off from God and he died spiritually.

Adam’s soul was also affected by sin. Our soul is our mind, will, and emotions. Adam's sin affected his mind. He went from being totally focused on his relationship with God to being self-conscious and self-centered. Adam was completely changed because his soul became sick due to his rebellion against God.

Inside every person is a rebel. This is that voice that tells us to go our own way and do our own thing. Our soul is very self-centered and cares only for us. It is rebellion that causes us to sin and as we discussed before, all sin is against God. Therefore, all rebellion is against God.

No one understood this better than the Apostle Paul because he was the worst of the worst. He described this rebellious life in Ephesians 2:2-3 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, and spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

Satan is the prince of the power of the air. He has authority over all who are in rebellion against God. These are the sons of disobedience and the children of wrath. We were all there prior to our salvation.

The entire Chapter 41 of the Book of Job is a description of a sea monster called Leviathan which is a picture of Satan. He is king over all the children of pride. When we are proud, rebellious, self-centered, and going our own way, we are under the spell of Satan. He is the spirit that is working in the sons of disobedience. He rules the souls (minds) of those in rebellion.

We all once conducted ourselves by the lust of our flesh and the desires of our minds. We were by nature, children of wrath. ALL people were once in this condition. All means everyone. No one is excluded. Everyone started out in this rebellious condition.

Most of us were unaware of our lost condition. We may be successful in our careers and academic studies, but inside we are not satisfied. We know something is missing. This is the condition of being soul-sick and sin-sick. We remain in this lost condition until we are saved, born again, and become a new creation.

This can only be done through believing in the shed Blood of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. Put of His great Love for mankind, God sent Jesus to Earth to be the Sacrificial Lamb for us. He suffered the most horrible scourging and died on the Cross so we can be born again and become the new creation God wants us to be. Hallelujah!

Jesus went to the Cross to……..….turn the tide...........in your life!

Thank you God!         Doreen
